It was an honor to meet with Governor Andy Beshear It was an honor to meet with Governor Andy Beshear and Senior Advisor Rocky Adkins. We are excited about our official Be Kind Kentucky license plate. We are donating all proceeds to the 16-youth mental health drop-in centers. If selected by just 10% vehicles, we will donate $1.7 million over the next decade. You can get one in January 2023.
Many of you have asked about the Kindness Walk. We Many of you have asked about the Kindness Walk. We won't be hosting one this year. The pandemic was still active earlier in the year when we would have needed to seek out sponsors. We only charge $10 registration as we want to keep it affordable so everyone can participate. $6 of that cost goes for the t-shirt. The powdered color, registration, insurance, etc. exceeds the registration fee. We look forward to seeing everyone on the first Saturday of August in 2023!

Scarf in the Park was created five years ago to ho Scarf in the Park was created five years ago to honor my dad who died on Christmas Eve 1989. Mayfield is my hometown. My mother still lives there, as do two brothers. My parents house is three houses from Kiwanis Park. That area of town was not affected. Our hope is we can host Scarf in the Park there this year. If not, we will donate them to an organization in Mayfield that will get them to those in need. Our overall goal is to provide for Paducah and Mayfield.

You can drop off donations of hats, scarves, socks or gloves at any Paducah Bank location, McCracken County Library, Wellsprings Institute (drive-thru), and Auburn Place Hotel.

If you would like to make a cash donation for us to buy items, please send to Guess Foundation, 150 Rosebower Church Road, Paducah, KY 42003. You may also send donation via VENMO to Susan-Guess-1

Our family remains committed to making Christmas a Our family remains committed to making Christmas a little happier and warmer for those in need in Paducah.
We will host the 5th “Scarf in the Park” on Christmas Eve. Volunteers are invited to join us at 1 p.m. to hang scarves, gloves, hats and socks in trees and on clotheslines at Dolly McNutt Plaza (across from City Hall). Paducah's homeless and families in need are welcome to come at any time after 1 p.m. to collect what they need to stay warm. The items are generally gone by mid-day Christmas day. Over 4,000 items have been shared since the project started.

If you want to help, we are collecting hats, gloves, socks and scarves for men, women and children. Volunteers are also needed to help write messages on cards. Every item also has a hand-written note pinned to them.

We know there are people in our community who will have nowhere to go on Christmas Eve. We also know they will be cold, and likely sad and lonely. When we thought about hosting this project, we thought Christmas Eve would be the best night to show them that they are seen and cared about. No one should go without a present, and we believe no one should be cold. We hope this simple act of kindness gives them hope. Any individual or family in need is also welcome to visit the park and to get what they need to stay warm. We believe that Christmas is truly about giving, and this is a meaningful and memorable way to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
